Notes

South West England Modern Image.

Mount Wise was built with the intention of not spending a great deal of club funds, giving the younger members a chance to get involved with a layout project if they wished and to be used by them at exhibitions. It is DCC layout, considering that some younger members would want to embrace the latest technology. The main focus is on the scenics and details rather than running potential.

It is based on a real place, Ocean Quay terminus on the Stonehouse Pool branch from Devonport near Plymouth. This layout assumes what the place would look like today had the railway not closed in 1970 to freight traffic. Passenger traffic ended as early as 1910, when it did not live up to the London & South Western Railway's expectations. Mount Wise, from which the layout takes its name, is an area of high ground south of Devonport.

There is still more work to be done on it, but it can be made ready for exhibitions, provided that enough notice is given.

Including operators’ space (operated from behind).
